Ann Hayden Hirsch, a current catalyst Junior, is making a cookbook which focuses on ingredients that lessen arthritis symptoms. Having juvenile rheumatoid herself, this is a project that is very close to her heart and through her treatment, Ann Hayden learned that certain foods can help inflammation in arthritis patients.
Ann Hayden’s biggest challenge so far has been making the recipes. As she isn’t a very experienced chef, it’s been difficult to make her own recipes, cook them and then try to perfect them. Presenting the dishes in a pleasing way and taking aesthetic photographs has been challenging as well because she has needed to find the right background and lighting within her house.
So far, Ann Hayden has made ten recipes using berries, ginger, and vegetables but plans to finish twenty by the end of the semester.
